The Growth of the Emerald Coast, Nicaragua
For years now, Nicaragua has been compared to what Costa Rica was like 20 years ago. However at the current rate of new developments, airports, and infrastructure, Nicaragua is not too far behind Costa Rica. The tourism sector is in full force, and most investors are now investing on the Emerald Coast.
Sure, San Juan Del Sur is a great place to invest, but there can only be so many hotels and restaurants in the town before it bursts. Which is why most people are also heading to the Emerald Coast, as their are currently more options and the cost of land is currently less expensive and you can get some really good deals. Some people like to get in after it's all been done, and other people like to get in early before it booms, just like in any investment.
From Tola to Astillero, new developments are popping up, including the new Coastal Highway, newly paved road to Gigante, various resorts and developments, and more. Below are 3 current investments that we see are currently going up right now.
1. Sushi Restaurant & Dentist (2nd floor of mall by airport)
This little mall just across from the Costa Esmeralda airport currently consists of a BAC bank, a real estate firm & law firm, grocery store with imported products, surf shop and Avis Rent A Car. The 2nd story will feature a Sushi Restaurant & Dentist.
2. Newly paved road through the town of El Astillero
El Astillero is a small fishing village, with a beach similar to San Juan Del Sur, but no development yet, however they have just paved the main road through town. The Coastal highway is said to go through this town and straight up the coast to Montelimar where the Barcelo All Inclusive Resort is.
3. New Mall by Popoyo
This mall is pretty large and has spaces available. Their sign states that there will be an ice cream shop, liquor store, cafe, meat shop, pharmacy, chocolate shop and a restaurant called Mad Dog Pizza. They have more spaces available, so who knows what else will go in here, but it means that people will not have to venture to Rivas or Tola for these items.
It is located by the bridge at the "Y" where the roads all join, coming from Tola, going to Guasacate and also going to the Ochomogo bridge on the main highway. It is less than a 10 minute drive from the new Surf Ranch Resort.
Soon the Emerald Coast will be equipped with everything that one needs, currently you can also find a small health center, 2 golf courses, Costa Esmeralda airport, various resorts with restaurants that are accessible to day guests, sailing tours, and various new developments...now just waiting on the gas station!
