Fly through the Surf Ranch Resort, filmed in 1 continuous take.

This video was one of our funnest to film.  We hired an FPV (first person view) drone operator, who brought his drone to the Surf Ranch and we discussed how we would film the one take shot.  We wanted to fly through the resort filming everything in one take, so we discussed the different possible paths.   We chose a day on the weekend when it was busy and sunny, and just started with a few practice runs.

 

After a few takes, the hotel guests were curious, so we told them what we were doing, and one by one, they all wanted to be a part of it, which is what we needed.    From the girl going down the slide, to her parents in the swim up bar, guests around the pool, the rock climber, skateboarders, and everyone else in the video, we now had an idea of what we would film.   

 

"1, 2, 3, go!"  I called out in a walkie talkie, as the drone took off from the top floor of the restaurant.  I stayed out of the shot as much as possible, but had to radio each area that the drone was coming and for the people to get ready to do their part of the video.   In all, it took us about 8 tries, and we were super stoked for the final result.

 

It really does give you the best sense of what the Surf Ranch Resort in San Juan Del Sur offers, as well as the overall vibe on a sunny afternoon.  Check out the video below.
